Coloring Foodia

The Foodia logo1 uses 6 different colors (4 if overprinting), which is quite a number to have when, for example, screen-printing. So I often find myself trying to eliminate colors.

Taking a cue from Lichtenstein

Semi-successfully screenprinted

Rinsing out silkscreens is not-scalable, so now we’re trying SpreadShirt. For their nicer prints, they limit the number of colors to 3, which was tough until I thought about compost.

Om nom nom

Anywho, check out the tees on the Foodia Store, they’re printed with velvety flock on American Apparel.

Don’t Mess With Noodles

Barabara, thanks for the critiques on this piece!

Sometimes things excite me and I end up doing stupid things like registering domain names and pro bono work. Suffice to say, people can get very suspicious of strangers bearing gifts, so this particular expressioning zoomed past nowhere and straight into Irish car bomb, setting back diplomatic relations between two honorable San Francisco entities at least a Noodle Fest or two.

Things I may or may not have learned:

  1. Don’t let other people take the heat for my acts. Instead, gently remind my self-sacrificing human shields that hey, I’m the arrogant douche-bag who did took initiative and, essentially, crapped all over the parade with my start-uppity, ivory tower, impulsive compulsions.
  2. Be wary of taking on projects where your loved ones can be held hostage. I thought that fan sites were a well understood element of the internet but not when someone I know will get eviscerated for it.

One thing I certainly haven’t learned is not to write about stuff like this in public. Perhaps that will be the true lesson here.
